10th regular session of second parliaments to resume on Nov 12

The 10th regular session of second Union parliament, lower house and upper house will resume on November 12, according to parliamentary offices and rights committee.

Dr. Hla Moe, Secretary of Lower House Parliamentary Rights Committee said: “There will be no discussion of budget in parliament at the 10th regular session. The upcoming session aims to pass and amend the laws. Parliaments have received some bills. Some laws are still at the hands of lower house and upper house. Parliaments will finalize them.”

The 9th regular session of second lower house and upper house came to an end on September 18.

Lower House Speaker T Khun Myat said at the last session of parliament: “At the previous session, 123 starred questions, 213 normal questions were raised and answered, six out of 11 proposals, approved and five, put on record and ten out of 28 bills, approved.”

Upper House Speaker Mann Win Khaing Than said at the last session of parliament: “The 87 starred questions and 154 normal questions were raised and answered.”

From the first to nine regular session of second lower house, a total of 6,504 questions were raised, 37 proposals and six important proposals, approved, 50 proposals and four important proposals, put on record. But lower house did not approve two proposals and two important proposals.

On August 1, Lower House Speaker T Khun Myat started serving as speaker of the Union parliament as Upper House Speaker Mann Win Khaing Than served as speaker of Union parliament for 30 months.
