Ten out of 12 patients suspected of having the coronavirus at Kandaw Nadi Hospital in Mandalay have tested negative and plans are under way to send samples of the remaining two for diagnosis, according to hospital sources. 

“There is no one who tested positive for the virus. We don’t even have those waiting for tests. Today (March 12), we have to send samples of the two patients. A total of 12 people were admitted to hospital. We have yet to send swabs of the two patients. Some of them have discharged while some are planning to discharge. So far, no one has tested positive. 

A 68-year-old woman hospitalized for being suspected of the virus symptoms died on March 6. But the tests showed that she tested negative. She was suffering from diabetes, the Ministry of Health and Sports reported. 

A man from Watlet Township, Shwebo District, who used to work in Shweli of China, was sent to Kandaw Nadi Hospital via Mandalay General Hospital on March 6 for having suspected virus symptoms. The doctor who treated him was also sent to Kandaw Nadi Hospital on March 8. 

The news that a patient from Mandalay Hospital who tested positive for the virus was false and just a rumour.
