Myanmar's National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) held talks with the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA)'s political wing on Thursday, discussing the group's plans to establish a political party and participate in elections.

The talks in Nay Pyi Taw also covered the Kokang self-administered area, political legitimacy, ethnic equality, border trade, regional development and cooperation against online scams and drugs.

NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae said the two sides should openly discuss the MNDAA's long-term aspirations and seek mutually acceptable solutions while building trust. He said stability was essential for regional development and that unresolved issues could be addressed in future talks.

MNDAA representative U Phone Win Naing welcomed dialogue without preconditions and said the group wanted to resolve differences through peaceful means. He said the MNDAA supported maintaining regional stability, development and social welfare and wanted to strengthen mutual trust through continued dialogue.

NSPNC Secretary Lt-Gen Min Naing subsequently explained the government's position on resolving political issues through political dialogue, regional development and stability, and the President's directives. He also discussed continued negotiations through confidence-building measures and responses to issues raised by the MNDAA delegation.

The meeting was attended by senior NSPNC officials and members of the MNTJP/MNDAA delegation.

The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Central Committee, led by the President, issued an invitation on April 21, 2026, under Announcement No.1/2026 for dialogue without preconditions, saying that ending armed conflicts and resolving political problems through political means were necessary for the country's development, stability and peace.
