More than 800,000 stimulant tablets worth over K1 billion and reportedly destined for Rakhine State were seized in Pyawbwe Township, according to a statement from the Anti-Drug Police Force.
At around 2:30 pm. on September 4, anti-drug police searched a minibus driven by Ni Win, with Thein Tun on board, near Kan Swe Village along the Pyawbwe–Natmauk road in Pyawbwe Township, following a tip-off.
The search led to the seizure of approximately 869,000 stimulant tablets, with an estimated local value of K1.3035 billion, according to the authorities.
According to the chain of custody, on September 4, Nay Paing Soe (aka) Jar Gyi (aka) Aung Kyaw Myint, who was the person who had ordered the seized tablets to be transported from Pyin Bya Village, Yamethin Township to Kwan Laung Village, Aung Lan Township, was arrested in a HONDA INSIGHT vehicle at a hotel in Pyi Tharyar (South) Ward, Meiktila Township, and Kyaw Thar (aka) Aung Kyaw, who was the manager of the transportation and trading business on the 115th mile of the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, along with Ko Soe and Yu Yu Maw, were arrested with 194 stimulant tablets (local value 3.88 million kyats), 9,171,500 kyats in Myanmar, and a GRAND TIGER vehicle.
According to their investigation, on September 5, Ye Min Aung (aka) Pa Thaing was arrested at a house in Pyin Bya Village, Yamethin Township, and Moe Aung (aka) Salai Moe Aung, who was the person who transported the tablets from Aung Lan to Ann Township, Rakhine State, was arrested in Pyi Thar, A NISSAN VANETTE vehicle was seized in Pyithurayar Ward and a PAJERO vehicle used by Nay Paing Soe (aka) Jar Gyi (b) Aung Kyaw Myint to transport the tablets was seized near Kwai Gyi village, Meiktila Township.
According to the investigation, the seized tablets were transported to Yamethin Township by Maung Win (aka) Aung Sein (aka) Aung Thein (aka) Aung Htein (still at large) from Kalaw Township, Shan State (South), and transported to Aung Lan under the arrangement of Kyaw Thar (aka) Aung Kyaw. The people who transported it from Aung Lan to Ann Township, Rakhine State were Moe Aung (aka) Salai Moe Aung, Ye Aung (still at large) and Ko U (still at large). The person who transported it from Ann to Maung Taw was Shwe Lin (still at large).
According to the confession of Kyaw Thar and the arrested persons involved in the trafficking, it was identified that the main person, Maung Win (still at large),and Nai Naing Oo from the AA terrorist group. They have been prosecuted under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act, and the perpetrators of the series of crimes are being investigated and prosecuted, and the proceeds and assets obtained from their trafficking and dealing in drugs are being confiscated as public funds, according to a statement from the Narcotics Control Police.
