The Union Election Commission (UEC) has annulled the election of two representatives from the People’s Party in the Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw and declared two candidates from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) as elected representatives, according to an announcement.

In its decision on Election Objection Appeal No. (1/2026), the UEC annulled the election of People’s Party candidate U Khaing Oo in Constituency No. (1) of Myeik Township for the Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw and declared USDP candidate U Win Kyaw as the elected representative.

According to UEC Announcement No. (54/2026), U Win Kyaw, who contested the seat against U Khaing Oo of the People’s Party, had filed an election objection concerning U Khaing Oo’s election in the Myeik Township constituency.

The objection was reviewed and heard through the election tribunal and appeal procedures under Sections 69 and 75 of the Region or State Hluttaw Election Law, following which the UEC issued its decision.

“Yes, our party’s representative, U Khaing Oo, has been removed. We are waiting to receive the official announcement. The person who clearly won the election in Myeik Township has been removed. We have already filed an appeal. It can be said that this was done to remove representatives from Myeik Township from the Hluttaw. With this annulment, our party has now lost another representative as well,” said U Aung Aung, a Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw representative and chairman of the Tanintharyi Region branch of the People’s Party.

Under the UEC’s decision, U Khaing Oo’s election as a representative for Myeik Township Constituency No. (1) was declared legally void, while U Win Kyaw was declared the candidate duly elected in accordance with the law.

In connection with the decision, the list of representatives for Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw Constituency No. (1), elected under the proportional representation (PR) system, was also revised.

The UEC deducted the votes obtained by U Khaing Oo in the Myeik Township constituency and recalculated the remaining valid votes. As a result, People’s Party representative U Tin Soe, who had been elected as the representative for Constituency No. (2) in Launglon Township, was no longer entitled to retain his seat in the Hluttaw.

Based on the priority candidate lists submitted by political parties, the UEC declared USDP candidate Daw Mya Mya Sein as the representative for Tanintharyi Region Hluttaw Constituency No. (1) under the proportional representation system.
