Authorities have seized narcotics worth an estimated 1.4369 billion kyats in Taungoo, Bago Region, according to the Drug Enforcement Police Force.
At around 4 pm. on August 30, drug enforcement officers, acting on a tip-off and accompanied by witnesses, stopped two men near Ward 22 in Taungoo. They seized 6.34 kilograms of heroin, valued at about 221.9 million kyats, and 810,000 stimulant tablets, valued at approximately 1.215 billion kyats, along with two mobile phones.
The suspects were identified as 39-year-old Pan Aung, also known as Aung Pe, and 20-year-old Ma Naw Htay Htay Soe. Two vehicles, a Toyota Ipsum and a Toyota Alphard, were also seized.
Police have opened a case against the two suspects under Myanmar’s Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law at Taungoo Myoma Police Station. Investigations are continuing to identify other people linked to the case.
