The Kan Paik Ti border trade station, currently operating from Mongna in Waingmaw Township, Kachin State, will be relocated to the Swut Bwam Company’s trading compound in Mongna Village Tract to improve customs operations and border trade management.

Officials said the new site, covering more than five acres along the Mongna–Waipa–Washaung road, will help facilitate smoother cargo inspections, maintain cross-border trade flows with China, increase tax revenue, and curb illegal trade. The Kan Paik Ti border crossing is a key export route for Kachin’s agricultural products, including tissue-culture bananas.

Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan met government officials and border trade stakeholders on July 26 to discuss the relocation. The trade station is currently operating from a temporary inspection office at Shwe Moe foothills.

Border trade through Kan Paik Ti is currently suspended due to road closures caused by recent landslides.

Following the meeting, the chief minister visited temporary displacement camps in Mongna Village Tract and distributed 323 bags of rice—one bag per household—to 323 displaced families, benefiting a total of 1,625 people from seven camps.
