Strong winds damaged the roofs of several houses and toppled trees in Set Se Village, Thanbyuzayat Township, on the morning of July 13, according to local residents.
A resident said the strong winds struck at around 6 am, damaging the roofs of about five houses and uprooting or breaking trees throughout the village.
"It had been raining with strong winds since early morning. Trees were uprooted, branches were blown off, and the roofs of some houses were torn away," the resident said.
No injuries were reported. Personnel from the Thanbyuzayat Township Fire Services Department, local authorities, and residents jointly carried out clearance operations to remove fallen trees and other debris.
Later the same day, at around 2:30 pm, strong winds also hit Mawlamyine Township, where fallen trees blocked roads in Nyaungpinsaik Ward. Firefighters from the Nyaungpinsaik Fire Services Department, social assistance groups, and local residents cleared the affected roads.
The incident followed a tornado that struck Thanbyuzayat Town on the night of July 10, destroying five houses and partially damaging 87 others. Two monasteries and one nunnery also sustained damage, while 426 people were affected.
The tornado also damaged religious buildings and brought down trees, electricity poles, and communication poles, according to local residents.
