Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services General Ye Win Oo met with a delegation led by Lt. Gen. Warathep Boonya of the Royal Thai Army, which attended the 38th Myanmar–Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) Meeting hosted by Myanmar, at the Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw on the afternoon of July 1.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the successful convening of the 38th Myanmar–Thailand Regional Border Committee Meeting and ways to further strengthen the long-standing friendship and cooperation between the Myanmar and Thai armed forces. They also discussed Thailand's humanitarian assistance following the March 28, 2025 Mandalay earthquake, with the Commander-in-Chief expressing deep appreciation for the relief teams and emergency supplies dispatched by Thailand in the spirit of good-neighbourliness. The discussions also covered the expansion of exchanges involving goodwill visits, cultural delegations, sports teams and military trainees, as well as enhanced military cooperation to promote peace, stability, development and counter-terrorism efforts in border areas. In addition, both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation between the two governments and armed forces to combat illegal trade, narcotics trafficking and online gambling.
The meeting was attended by senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services (Army), regional commanders, Myanmar military attachés (Army, Navy and Air), officials from both countries, the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Royal Thai Embassy, senior officers of the Royal Thai Armed Forces and other relevant officials.
