Deputy Minister for Immigration and Population Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe has assumed the role of Spokesperson for President U Min Aung Hlaing.

Although no official announcement has yet been made regarding her appointment, Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe met with members of the media at the airport on June 3 following the President’s return from his visit to India and delivered remarks in her capacity as the President’s Spokesperson.

Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe is a senior official of the Ministry of Immigration and Population. Prior to her current position as Deputy Minister, she served as Director-General of the Department of Population.

She played a leading role in the implementation of the 2014 Population and Housing Census during the administration of President U Thein Sein, overseeing census operations, statistical analysis, and reporting processes as a senior official of the Department of Population. She is widely recognized as an expert in population and housing census management.

Dr. Khaing Khaing Soe earned a Ph.D. in Demography from Mahidol University in Thailand in 2009.
