Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs U Ko Ko Kyaw expressed hope that the international community will provide positive support to help make Myanmar’s democratic transition and its efforts toward peace, stability and development more effective and successful.
He made the remarks at a Diplomatic Coffee Morning held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Yangon on May 16. The event, organized by the ministry, was attended by ambassadors, chargés d’affaires and diplomats from foreign embassies based in Yangon, as well as representatives from United Nations agencies.
The Deputy Minister said the meeting was intended to further strengthen friendly relations and cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign embassies and UN organizations in Yangon, adding that similar meetings will be held regularly.
He noted that a democratically elected government has been in office in Myanmar since April 10, 2026, and said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will intensify its international engagement. He reiterated his hope that the international community will extend constructive support to the country’s progress along the democratic path and to its efforts to achieve peace, stability and development.
The event was also attended by ministry officials, the Chairman of the Myanmar Institute for Strategic and International Studies (MISIS), former Myanmar ambassadors, and representatives of diplomatic missions and UN organizations. Guests were served Myanmar coffee and breakfast.
