A Myanmar migrant worker was burned and beaten to death by a fellow Myanmar national at a workers’ dormitory in Samut Prakan Province on February 17, according to Thai local media reports.
The incident occurred at a labour camp where a 27-year-old worker, identified as Htun Khine, returned from work and began drinking alcohol and shouting loudly. This led to an argument with a 22-year-old co-worker, Win Naing Soe.
Following the dispute, Win Naing Soe allegedly poured gasoline on Htun Khine, set him on fire, and beat him with an iron rod. Although the victim tried to flee the room while suffering from severe burns, he was repeatedly struck on the head and died at the scene.
After the attack, the suspect did not attempt to escape and reportedly waited at the dormitory to be arrested by police.
Thai authorities have charged Win Naing Soe with premeditated murder and are continuing legal proceedings in accordance with the law.
