Over 200 Million Kyats worth of stimulant tablets seized in Thingangyun and Kamayut Townships

More than 200 million kyats worth of stimulant tablets were seized in Thingangyun and Kamayut townships, according to a statement released by the Anti-Narcotics Police Force.

At around 6:30 p.m. on February 7, anti-narcotics police, acting on a tip-off and accompanied by witnesses, stopped and searched a Toyota Mark X driven by Aung Ko Ko @ Aung Lay, @ Kyaw Maung Maung, with Zaw Myo Swe as a passenger, in Ward (Sa/Kha) of Thingangyun Township.

During the search, officers discovered and confiscated 95,000 stimulant tablets, estimated to be worth about 95 million kyats, along with two mobile phones.

Further investigation led to the arrest of accomplices involved in transporting and selling the drugs. U Than Maung and U Kyaw Zaw Hla were arrested at the corner of 165th Street in Tamwe Township, where two mobile phones were also seized. Additionally, a search of a house rented by Aung Ko Ko @ Aung Lay, @ Kyaw Maung Maung in Ward No. 3, Kamayut Township, resulted in the seizure of another 110,000 stimulant tablets, estimated to be worth about 110 million kyats, and a Toyota Mark X vehicle.

In connection with the case, the suspects — Aung Ko Ko @ Aung Lay, @ Kyaw Maung Maung), 30; Zaw Myo Swe, 37; U Than Maung, 59; and U Kyaw Zaw Hla, 64 — have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law at the relevant police stations. Authorities are continuing investigations to identify further links in the case, according to the Anti-Narcotics Police Force.
