The 30-bed Thoneze Station Hospital in Nawnghkio Township has reopened after being closed for more than two years and has resumed medical services.

The hospital, which was temporarily shut down in late November 2023 due to regional security incidents, was repaired and reopened on the morning of December 21, 2025, under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Shan State Government, with cooperation from local authorities, ethnic residents, and volunteers.

With the reopening, healthcare services will now be available to more than 30,000 residents in the Thoneze Station area. Earlier, the Nawnghkio Township People’s Hospital was also reopened on August 2, 2025.

As of December 20, a total of 34 public health facilities, including rural health centers and sub-centers, have been reopened in Nawnghkio Township to strengthen primary healthcare services.

During vaccination campaigns conducted between October 10 and December 20, 2025, basic health staff provided essential immunizations to 32,350 children under the age of 15 through routine and special immunization activities.
