A 42-year-old woman was shot dead by her nephew following an inheritance dispute in Ye Township, Mon State, according to a security source close to the case.

The incident occurred at around 12:45 pm. on November 17 at the home of the victim, Daw Khin San Yi, of Yan Myo Aung Ward. Her 30-year-old nephew, Maung Phyu, from Phalan Chaung Wa Village, allegedly confronted her over an inheritance disagreement, left the scene to retrieve a firearm, and returned to shoot her in the head. She died at the scene.

Maung Phyu remains at large. Police have opened a case under Section 302 of the Penal Code (Pa) 93/2025 at Ye Myo Police Station.

In a separate incident on November 10, three LGBT individuals were shot in Maha Myaing Ward, Mawlamyine, resulting in two deaths and one injury. The suspects in that attack have not yet been apprehended.
