UEC announces candidate nominations for all parliaments to begin on September 8

The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced on August 20 that the submission of nominations for each Hluttaw can begin on September 8.

The Union Election Commission, exercising its powers under the relevant Hluttaw Election Rules 16, has announced that the submission of nominations for each Hluttaw constituency can begin on September 8, 2025. The last date for withdrawal of nominations for Hluttaw candidates is September 12, 2025.

In addition, if a political party contesting in a PR constituency withdraws its nomination for a Hluttaw candidate, the first date to resubmit is September 13, 2025, and the last date is September 17, 2025, the UEC announced.

The scrutiny of nominations for Hluttaw candidates will be from September 18 to October 4, 2025, the UEC announced.

The Union Election Commission, through its announcement No. (55/2025) dated August 18, 2025, has announced that the multi-party democratic general election (Phase 1) for each parliament will begin on December 28, 2025 and that the dates for the subsequent phases will be announced.
