Shan State Chief Minister U Aung Aung led a government delegation to the Wa and Mong La regions on August 6 and 7 to meet with leaders of both groups under the directive of the National Defense and Security Council.
The delegation arrived in Mong Pauk on August 6 and met with officials from the Mong Pauk district. Later that day, they continued to Panghsang, the headquarters of the Wa group, where they held talks with top leaders. While details of the discussions were not disclosed, the meeting was reportedly aimed at advancing national education, healthcare, and other development projects.
Attendees included U Thant Shu Win, Secretary of the Shan State Government; U Min Min Lwin, State Minister; the Commander of the Triangle Region Command and senior officials from the regional education and health departments. Wa group leaders present included Zhao Zhongdan, Central Committee member; Zhao Guoan, Standing Committee member of the Political Bureau and Vice Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; and Luo Yaku, Standing Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Government, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
On August 7, the delegation departed Panghsang for Mong La, Special Region (4) of eastern Shan State, where they met with Mong La group officials for further discussions.
Local media reported that the visits were conducted as part of the government’s efforts to implement development projects in the regions.
