A ceremony marking the opening of the Nawnghkio People’s Hospital was held on August 2 at 9 a.m., with healthcare services now being provided to local residents.
Since July 20, a temporary hospital has been operating at the Mya Nan Taw Win wedding hall in Nawnghkio Township, offering medical care to local ethnic communities and administering expanded immunization programs for children under five. From July 25 to August 1, a total of 1,695 residents received necessary medical services, while 175 children under five were vaccinated and given supplemental doses.
Under the guidance of the Ministry of Health and the Shan State Government, the Northern Shan State Healthcare Department, local military battalions, Kyaukme District administrative authorities, and township-level departments collaborated with local ethnic communities and volunteers to renovate the Nawnghkio People’s Hospital’s emergency ward and patient treatment rooms. Additionally, a mobile operating theater, portable X-ray and ultrasound machines, and essential medicines and medical supplies were provided.
The hospital is now fully operational, admitting patients and performing emergency surgeries as needed.
