China is closely observing developments in Myanmar and has pledged its support for the country’s stability, according to Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun.
Speaking at a regular press conference, Guo commented on Myanmar’s recent political shift after the National Defence and Security Council announced the lifting of the state of emergency on July 31.
“As a friendly neighbor, China is closely monitoring the situation in Myanmar,” Guo said. “We support Myanmar’s efforts to maintain stability, pursue peaceful national reconciliation, and advance its domestic political process in a way that aligns with its national circumstances.”
Guo also called on all parties and organizations in Myanmar to resolve their differences through political dialogue, and within the framework of the constitution and the rule of law.
