The Ministry of Health has reported a surge in dengue fever cases in some wards and villages of Hlaingtharya (West) Township. In response, authorities are conducting fogging operations, insecticide spraying, and public health education campaigns to control the outbreak.

On July 21, Deputy Permanent Secretary Dr. Htun Min from the Ministry of Health and Deputy Director-General (Disease Control) Dr. Kyaw Kan Kaung from the Public Health Department met with officials from the General Administration Department, relevant departments, and social welfare organizations at the meeting hall of the General Administration Department in Hlaingtharya (West) Township.

During the meeting, they discussed detailed coordination efforts for effective dengue prevention and control measures. Later, along with the Township Public Health and Medical Services Officer, Yangon City Development Committee officials, and volunteers from social welfare groups, they visited affected neighborhoods and villages where dengue cases are widespread. There, they carried out larvicide treatments, mosquito fogging, and public health awareness activities.

Additionally, the officials visited the pediatric ward of Hlaingtharya People’s Hospital, where they met with the hospital superintendent and specialist doctors. They reviewed dengue treatment procedures and patient admission rates, instructing hospital staff to submit daily reports. They also urged health workers and public health staff to intensify dengue prevention and control efforts, providing detailed guidelines for action.
