50 Myanmar nationals arrested at two illegal entry points into Thailand

A total of 50 Myanmar nationals who illegally entered neighboring Thailand were arrested in two separate incidents on July 4, according to sources.

A van carrying 15 Myanmar nationals who had illegally crossed the border from the Myawady to Mae Sot to work in Thailand was found and arrested by the police and the Immigration Bureau.

The arrested Myanmar nationals and their two Thai drivers will also be prosecuted, according to reports from Thailand.

Similarly, at around 7 am on July 4, local authorities seized a van carrying 35 Myanmar nationals, including a child, who were going to work in Samut Sakhon District, near Sahakorn Nikhum Village Group 1, Thong Pha Phum District, Kanchanaburi Province.

The arrested Myanmar nationals paid 12,000 Thai baht each as a broker fee, according to the arrestees.

All those arrested along with the driver who illegally transported Myanmar citizens will be taken to the Thong Pha Phum Police Station and legal action will be taken.
