Mandalay – A man armed with a gun robbed KBZ Bank Branch 37 in Mandalay on February 21 at around 2:00 pm, escaping with approximately 150 million kyats, according to local reports.
The robbery took place at the bank in Maha Aung Myay Township, where the suspect, carrying a firearm, used a knife to threaten staff and customers. Early investigations revealed that the robber made off with the cash in a large bag.
This incident follows a similar robbery that occurred at the same bank branch on January 11, when a lone robber armed with a handmade firearm attempted a robbery but was apprehended by bank staff and customers at the exit.
Robberies at KBZ Bank branches have become frequent, with many incidents involving robbers making off with amounts ranging from one to three hundred million kyats. In some cases, the robbers have been identified as members of the People’s Defense Force, according to reports from the Information Team of the State Administration Council (SAC).
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the latest robbery and working to enhance security measures at bank branches across the region.
