Thai authorities arrested approximately 60 Myanmar migrant workers who had been abandoned by human traffickers, with 35 of them being minors under the age of 18, according to a report by Khaosod English, a Thailand-based news outlet.  

The incident occurred in the Yingxi area of Phat Chabun District in Thailand on the night of February 10. Local administrative authorities investigated after receiving reports of two Myanmar nationals begging for food, leading to the discovery of others hiding nearby. The group, found stranded in a forest with no food, consisted of 17 men, 5 women, and 35 minors, totaling 57 individuals.  

Investigations revealed that the workers had entered Thailand via border routes in Mae Sot District and were promised jobs in Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Human traffickers transported them by truck but later abandoned them in the forest.  

In a related development on February 11, Thai authorities arrested two more Myanmar men and one woman, who were also reportedly abandoned by traffickers.  

Khaosod English detailed that the traffickers had lured the migrants with false promises of employment before deserting them without supplies. And investigations are ongoing to identify human traffickers.
