The University Training Corps has begun conducting basic and advanced military training courses for its member teachers and students for the 2024-25 academic year.
These training programs aim to equip university students with knowledge of national defense, fostering patriotism and national pride. By participating in these courses, students and instructors gain essential skills that will help them fulfill future national responsibilities with confidence and competence. The training is voluntarily undertaken by University Training Corps members under the supervision of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army) and the Directorate of People's Military and Border Affairs.
On February 10, opening ceremonies for the 2024-25 academic year’s military training courses were held at regional training centers in Naypyidaw, Taunggyi (Southern Shan State), Mawlamyine (Mon State), Kamayut (Yangon Region), Pathein (Ayeyarwady Region), and Taungoo (Bago Region).
The ceremonies were attended by regional military commanders, officials from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), the Directorate of People's Military and Border Affairs, university rectors, university training corps instructors, course supervisors, and students. Regional commanders and officials delivered speeches at the events.
Following the opening ceremonies, attendees watched cultural performances by university training corps students from different regions and states. Later, regional commanders and officials presented honorary awards and sports equipment to instructors and students.
The training programs include first-year and second-year basic military training, as well as first-year and second-year advanced military training. The courses will be conducted in both classroom settings and practical field training sessions.
