Myanmar citizens in the United States who are undocumented or illegally present should leave the country before they are deported, the Myanmar Embassy in Washington said on February 6.

The statement said that Myanmar citizens in the United States who are experiencing the expiration of their legal documents such as visas, for any reason, are being considered undocumented migrants and may be subject to deportation, so they should take steps to obtain residency through private programs.

If they are undocumented or illegally present, they should leave the country before they are deported by officials from the US government. If they do not have any travel documents for the return to Myanmar or the passport has expired for a long time, they can apply for a certificate of identity. The application form and requirements can be downloaded from the embassy's website and filled up and can contact the embassy promptly via email or phone, announced the embassy.
