A report released by Myanmar’s Fire Services Department on September 12 confirmed that severe flooding caused by heavy rainfall in Yamethin Township, Mandalay Region, has resulted in 10 deaths and affected more than 50,000 residents.
The flooding impacted a total of 15,113 households across various wards and village tracts, with 23,995 males and 29,977 females affected, totaling 53,972 people.
According to the initial report, the 10 fatalities occurred in the following locations: 1 male from Hse Gyi village in the Hse Gyi village-tract, 1 female from Nyaung Eine village, 2 males and 4 females from Kan Tha Aye village in the Myinna village-tract, 1 female from Shwe Nan Por village, and 1 female from Chaung Phya village in the War Phyu Taung village tract.
The Fire Services Department, in coordination with other organizations, has been relocating flood victims to shelters, including monasteries, community halls, and nearby relatives' homes.
