The Kokang Ethnic Literary and Culture Association in Mandalay expressed their protest against the deaths of local residents receiving medical treatment at the hospital, government employees and family members on August 9 when the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) attacked the military hospital in Lashio.
In the statement, it said the MNDAA issued a statement that the return of the MNDAA to the Kokang Autonomous Region of Northern Shan State will help fight online gambling scams and facilitate the socio-economic life of the local people in Kokang. In July 2024, the MNDAA, along with other ethnic armed groups, engaged in territorial invasion and violent acts, disrupting the stability and peace of the northern areas of Shan State and attacked the military hospital that is not related to the military using homemade rockets, heavy weapons and drones killing innocent local people who are receiving medical treatment at the hospital, government staff and family members, adults and children and people's lives and property were destroyed.
In addition, at this time, the Kokang Ethnic Literary and Culture Association in Mandalay stated that they see the life of thousands of local ethnic people who have to leave their home and wealth that they had to collect and search for many years to flee the war to other cities as sad and heartbreaking every day and they strongly condemn all the violent acts of the MNDAA terrorist insurgent group.
Due to the lack of peace in the Kokang area after 1967, some Kokang ethnic families moved to Lashio, Mandalay and Yangon, where there was peace and stability and they have been living there for many years, along with other ethnic families. They are participating together with other ethnic families in social associations and providing support and assistance to all ethnicities and religions in all kinds of religious and social issues. They are not involved in any political organizations and have always been faithful to the state and are living peacefully within the framework of the law, it said.
