Consulate General Office of Myanmar U Min Kyaw Lin, Consul General from Chiang Mai and Chin Rai District Governor Mr. Phut-hiphong Sirimat met and discussed cooperation in protecting Myanmar workers and migrants in Chiang Rai on June 21.

During the meeting, he discussed the potential for the promoting border trade and investments in the future, considering that the Chiang Rai highway is part of Asian Highway 2. He emphasized the enhancement of economic cooperation between the border trade chambers of commerce. Furthermore, he expressed the desire of Myanmar Consulate-General to collaborate with the Office of the Governor of Chiang Rai to provide consular assistance and protection to Myanmar citizens, including migrant workers, in the area. 

 On June 22, 2024, the Consul-General headed to Mae Sai and met with authorities from the immigration and customs Departments responsible for the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge (1) and (2) on the Thai side.
