UEC rejects the establishment of Chin People's Party

The Union Election Commission (UEC) announced that the establishment of Chin People's Party was rejected as it did not comply with the provisions of Section 4 of the Political Parties’ Registration Law.

Those who want to establish a political party are applying to the UEC stating the name of the party they want to establish and 12 political parties were allowed to establish among the groups that applied for this, while two parties were denied the right to establish, it said.

In addition, according to the verification responses of the relevant ministries regarding the application of the remaining Chin People's Party, it was found to be inconsistent with the provisions of Section 4 of the Political Parties’ Registration Law, and the UEC rejected the party's application to establish a party in form (c) of the Political Parties’ Registration Law, according to UEC's statement.

On May 7, the UEC announced that it rejected the establishment of Democracy Party as it did not comply with the provisions of Section 4 of the Political Parties’ Registration Law.

According to the detailed reports of the relevant ministries on the application of the Democracy Party, it was found that it did not comply with the provisions of Section 4 of the Political Parties’ Registration Law, and the application of the party to establish a party was rejected by the UEC in form (c) of the Political Parties’ Registration Law, according to the statement of the UEC.

Currently, there are three political parties whose applications for party establishment have been rejected by the UEC, according to UEC's statement.
