Paralyzed man dies in Pyay fire that razes three houses

A fire that erupted in Thapyapin ward, Pyay District of western Bago Region, yesterday afternoon claimed the life of a paralyzed man and destroyed three houses, Myanmar Rescue Team (Pyay) reported.

The victim, an elderly man who was suffering from a paralytic stroke, could not escape from his house when the fire broke out. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the rescue team.

The authorities were alerted by the nearby residents, who also helped to extinguish the fire. The social welfare organization and Khittayar Youths Free Funeral Service Society transported the body of the deceased to 500-bedded hospital in Pyay Township.
