The Drug Eradication Police Squad conducted two raids in Mingaladon and Thingangyun townships, Yangon Region, on 30 December, based on tipoffs, and confiscated various kinds of narcotic drugs worth about 26 million kyats.

In the first raid, the police searched the house of Ma Mya Mya Thinn (a) Thinn Thinn in Mingaladon township and found 8,000 stimulant tablets and a handphone. In the second raid, the police stopped and searched an AD Van driven by Aye Chan Maung (a) Maung Gyi in Thingangyun township and discovered 40g of Happy Water, 10g of Ketamine, 25 Ecstasy tablets and a mobile phone.

The police also searched Aye Chan Maung’s house in Thingangyun township and seized 1800g of Ketamine, 1800g of Happy Water and 30 Ecstasy tablets. The two suspects, aged 41 and 28, were arrested and charged under the Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The police are still looking for other accomplices.
