The price of 92 Ron has decreased by 45 kyats per litre but the vehicles still have to wait in line for a long time to buy fuel at fuel stations in Yangon according to sources.
On December 8, the price of 92 Ron was declined up to Ks45 per litre. The prices of fuel sold on December 8 were 2,465 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, 2,575 per litre for 95 Ron, 2,215 kyats per litre for diesel and 2,270 kyats per litre for premium diesel. The price remained the same on December 9, sources said.
Since December 5, vehicles could be seen queuing to buy fuel at the filling stations in Yangon.
“We had to line up to get fuel. Even though we waited for a long time, we couldn’t buy as much as we want,” said a man bought fuel at a fuel station in Thaketa Township. Some people waited the whole night at the fuel filling stations waiting to buy fuel according to some living in Yangon.
“Some line up the whole night and some vehicles line up around 3 or 4 in the morning. When we got up, we saw vehicles queuing to buy fuel,” said a man from North Okkalapa Township.
Thilawar Port has been distributing fuel for the entire Myanmar and some photos of drivers of fuel bowsers spread on social media that they were lining up the whole night at the port to get fuel.
Some vehicle owners said that at gas stations, vehicles have to wait in line for at least an hour, and in some gas stations, they run out of fuel and have to wait again.
At the gas stations where fuel is purchased, there are also queues of vehicles to buy fuel.
It is also seen that some petrol stations have announced that the sale of petrol types will be temporarily closed before they go to Thilawa to fill up fuel.
Fuel prices have been increasing since December 1, and these prices have dropped in December 8.
The prices of fuel sold on December 1 were 2,510 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, 2,300 per litre for 95 Ron, 2,210 kyats per litre for diesel and 2,305 kyats per litre for premium diesel.
The prices of fuel sold on November 30 were 2,170 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, 2,300 per litre for 95 Ron, 2,200 kyats per litre for diesel and 2,290 kyats per litre for premium diesel.
On November 10, some filling stations in Yangon were unable to sell fuel and were closed.
On November 11, fuel prices were 2,060 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, 2,160 per litre for 95 Ron, 2,195 kyats per litre for diesel and 2,315 kyats per litre for premium diesel.
During this period, fuel prices were below 2,100 kyats per litre for 92 Ron, but fuel stations could not sell fuel.
At that time, action was taken against three petrol stations in Yangon Region that did not sell fuel to some vehicles, according to the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC).
