As Myanmar hunts down foreign citizens illegally living in the border areas, a total of 1,017 Chinese nationals—935 men and 82 women— were arrested till November 19 this year and handed over to China after scrutiny in accord with the law, the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC) reported.

Regarding the handover of those illegal Chinese immigrants, SAC’s spokesperson Major General Zaw Min Tun said: "Today in the border areas in Myanmar, from October 23 to November 19, 935 Chinese men and 82 Chinese women totaling 1,017 illegally entered and lived in the border areas. So, we conducted checks in accord with the law and transferred them to China. I would like to say that we are cooperating with neighboring China for border peace and stability and the rule of law."

The SAC has already issued a statement saying that the government is focusing on state stability and the rule of law, and some foreigners are illegally entering Myanmar through border areas. Therefore, administrative bodies are making necessary inspections and transferring back illegal immigrants to relevant countries for legal proceedings.
