Five members of a family, including a three-year-old child, were injured by a heavy artillery explosion at about 12:00 pm on November 4 in the town of Kawkareik, Kayin State, according to local sources.

 A local resident said that a heavy artillery shell fell and exploded near a house in Shwekyatmin Street in Ward No.1, Kawkareik.

"The victims are children and women, and the injuries are said to be serious,” he added.

Local residents said that those injured were being treated at Kawkareik District People’s Hospital.

On November 2, two women were wounded by a shell explosion in Ward No.2 in Kawkareik.

According to local sources, on the afternoon of October 13 also, a student was killed and three others were injured by a heavy artillery explosion in front of No.2 Basic Education High School (Branch) in Kawkareik.
