A group of people reportedly abducted the owner of a gold shop in the Night Market in Kyimyindine Township, Yangon Region, killed him and dumped the body by the highway on October 9.  

At around 7:00 p.m. on October 8, U Zaw Min Oo, the owner of the Zamburik gold shop, which was opened at the Night Market in Kyinmyindine Township, was arrested and taken by a group of people in a car. Then, his body was abandoned near Zero Mile on the Yangon-Mandalay highway on the morning of October 9, according to neighbourhood residents.

A man living in the Night Market said: "The dead body was identified as U Min Zaw Oo, the owner of the Zamburik gold shop opened at the night market. A group of people arrested him in a car, and this morning we learned that his body was found near the Zero Mile on the highway. But we don't know for sure how much gold and silver were taken."

Meanwhile, other nearby residents said that the incident might be related to land or social problems and that they didn’t know for sure. Relevant authorities were investigating the case, they added.

According to reports of some online media outlets, a group of people arrested U Min Zaw Oo on October 8. On the morning of October 9, the body was found with the hands tied in the back and the mouth sealed with a tape mouth. He was a close disciple of a famous monk, Shwe Nya Wah Sayadaw.
