MAWLAMYAING-----The Hilux truck overturned because it was attacked by small arms on the Yangon-Mawlamyaing Highway in Kamarsai Village of Thahtone Township, Mon State, yesterday morning and a driver died in the accident, according to the locals.

One of the locals said that they heard the sound of gunshots in the morning of February 20th. After the shooting, they looked at the road and found that a Hilux truck turned over due to the collision with wayside public rest-house which was also damaged.

“The driver was found dead in the car. There were a lot of bullet holes on the car. The Hilux truck was carrying the marketable greens. Moe Gaung Rescue and Free Funeral Service brought the driver’s body to the Theinseik Station Hospital,” said one of the locals.

The victim lived in Hsutet village of Kantbalu Township, Sagaing Region and he was 34-year old. No one knew that which armed groups shot the Hilux truck.

Likewise, two blasts had occurred on Yangon-Mawlamyaing Highway near Kamarsai village in Thahtone Township, Mon State, around 9:30 pm of January 22nd. Due to the blasts, a vehicle carrying the goods was damaged, according to the locals.
