People’s militia leader U Myint Yi from Yinnyein Village, Paung Township, Mon State, was shot to death at about 7am on February 7, local sources said.
He was shot by three unknown men while sitting at the tea shop located at the edge of the village. The three men arrived at the tea shop on a motorbike and had food there. Then, they fired the gun at U Myint Yi as they left the tea shop. The militia leader died at the scene, a local villager said.
“Three unknown men arriving on a motorcycle shot him dead, and drove away towards Thahton,” he added.
After a while, security forces arrived and conducted chicks. The body of U Myint Yi was Yinnyein People’s Hospital.
At about 8pm on September 6 last year also, unidentified gunmen carried out gun attacks on a people’s militia on a security tour of Yangon-Mawlamyine Road in Kywegyan Village, Paung Township. A militiaman died and two others were wounded.
