A robbery occurred at Yangon Branch-37 (Nyuangbinlay Market branch) of AYA Bank in Latha Township, Yangon Region, at about 9.40am on December 19, according to local sources.
A masked man entered the bank and demanded cash from the staff at knifepoint.
“The robbery occurred at about 9.30 am or 10 am. We learnt that a man entered and robbed the bank. He was holding a knife,” said a resident living nearby.
Investigation is still underway as to how much money the robber took. But other news sources say the bank was robbed of around 10 million kyats.
Authorities are taking measures to arrest the robber who is still at large.
