Untimely rain with thunder, lightning, and hail may occur in all regions and states due to the warm air from the Andaman Sea and cold air from the high pressure area over mainland China, according to a report from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH) released on November 29.
According to the report, rain or thundershowers will be fairly widespread in (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Kayah, Kayin and Mon states, and scattered or isolated in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady and Taninthayi regions, and Northern Shan, Chin and Rakhine states between November 30 and December 4 due to the warm air from the Andaman Sea and cold air from the high pressure area over mainland China
The DMH warned that weather phenomena such as untimely rain with thunder, lightning and hail may occur.
Weather is partly cloudy over the North and West Central Bay of Bengal and a few clouds over the Andaman Sea and elsewhere over the Bay of Bengal. Rain or thundershowers will be scattered in Taninthayi Region and Rakhine State and isolated in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady regions and (Southern and Eastern) Shan, Chin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon states .Degree of certainty is 80%.Weather will be partly cloudy in the remaining regions and states.
Sea will be slight to moderate in Myanmar waters. Wave height will be about 4-6 feet off and along Myanmar Coasts.
During the past 24 hours, rain or thundershowers have been fairly widespread in Rakhine State, scattered in Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi regions, isolated in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Bago Regions and Chin, Kayah States and weather has been partly cloudy in the remaining regions and states.
Night temperatures were 2°C above November average temperature in Bago Region and (Northern and Eastern) Shan State, 3°C to 4°C above November average temperatures in Nay Pyi Taw, Sagaing, Mandalay, Magway, Ayeyawady regions and Southern Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, Mon states and about November average temperatures in the remaining regions and states.
The significant night temperatures were 7°C in Putao, 10°C each in Machanbaw and Hakha and 11°C each in Heho, Tiddim, Tongzan and Pyinoolwin. The noteworthy amount of rainfall recorded were 1.69 inches in Gwa, 0.87 inch in Kyaukpyu, 0.63 inch in Sittwe, 0.39 inch each in Maungdaw and Rathedaung, 0.31 inch in Manaung and 0.25 inch in Bogale.
Rain or thundershowers will be isolated to scattered in Nay Pyi Taw, Mandalay, Magway, Bago, Yangon, Ayeyawady, Taninthayi regions and Shan, Chin, Rakhine, Kayah, Kayin, and Mon states.
