Thailand detained about 100 Myanmar nationals for illegal entry within 3 days according to sources.
They arrived in Thailand through the Thai-Myanmar borders such as Ranoung, Mae Sai and Tak provinces and detained by the Thailand authorities on October 10, 11 and 12. Among them included those planning to go to Malaysia illegally.
According to sources from Thailand, 8 Myanmar nationals abandoned by brokers and deprived of food or starved were found in a jungle by Thai security forces on October 12. They were linked by brokers to work in Malaysia but they were left in the jungle in Ranoung Province.
Another 49 Myanmar nationals were also arrested while sheltering at a house in Mae Sai, northern Thailand.
On October 10, another 30 Myanmar nationals were arrested in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. They came from Rakhine State, Mawlamyine and Yangon Region and they had to pay Baht 2000 per person to brokers in advance.
More than 400 Myanmar nationals were arrested during this month according to the statement issued by the Thai authority. According to people helping Myanmar workers in Thailand, illegal entry increased as Thailand issue pink card till October 15.
