The administrator of Aungmingalar Ward in Hsinbo town, Myitkyina Township, Kachin State, and his lower level administrative member were murdered, according to local sources. 

The bodies of the two supposed to have been beaten to death were found at Kolaung turning between Hsinbo town and Myitha village.

“While doing cleaning work at a monastery on October 7 morning, the administrator received a phone call from someone for an appointment. As he was not good at driving a motorbike, he took his 100-house administrative official. The motorbike was found yesterday. We didn’t dare go there in the late evening. The following morning, two bodies were found one after another. They were beaten to death after being tied with the ropes from the motorcycle and their heads being wrapped up in their longyis (sarongs). We don’t know if they will killed for political or personal affairs. Their mobile phone were taken,” said a man who helped with the case.

The two murdered were Ward Administrator U Maung Htut, aged 60, and 100-house Administrative member U Hla Sin, aged 45.

Since the political change in Myanmar in 2021, 64 people including nine administrative officials have been killed in Myitkyina Township.
