Four men robbed a gold shop in Pakokku central market in Magway Region, by threatening the salespersons at gunpoint and took away about 50 ticals (about 0.8 kilograms) of gold and 3 million kyats in cash, the information team of the State Administration Council reported on the night of September 24.
In connection with the case, four PDF (People’s Defence Force) members (still under scrutiny) wearing face masks arrived on motorbikes at the gold shop in the central market in Ward-1, Pakokku, where six salespersons were selling gold and jewelries, and entered the shop at 3.30pm on September 23.
Next, three armed men threatened the salespersons at gunpoint and made them seated, while another man was collecting about 50 ticals of gold and Ks3 million from the counter. They then rode away towards Ward-9 with the property they seized, the news statement said.
Security forces have launched a manhunt for the robbers, the statement added.
