Flooding occurred in Naungmon in Kachin State

Due to the mountain torrent on early hours of September 3, flooding occurred in Naungmon in Kachin State according to locals.

Naungmon got heavy rain since September 2 and as a result, water level in Kasan creek and Lanan creek which flow towards Pan Nan Din arose. Later, some areas in Naungmon-Puta O and some wards and streets were flooded according to locals.

“Locals are worried because they got heavy rain till now. Communications were broken as the entrance part of the town is flooded,” said a local of Naungmon.

“It is a sign that monsoon rain is going to end and the next thing is due to high temperature in the area. It may be the record rain fall,” said U Tin Htaik from Kachin State DMH.

On August 27, Moehnyin in Kachin State got record rain fall within 49 years and over 70 households had to move to safer areas.
