Explosions occurred at Sarphosu ward administration office and a lamppost near the office in Zinkyike Town, Panug Township, Mon State in the night of August 30, injuring one person, according to the residents.
"An explosion occurred at Sarphosu ward administration office at around 8:15 pm yesterday. We heard a loud voice. About half an hour later, when the security forces arrived and cleared the area, another unexploded mine had been found and confiscated. After the security forces went back, another explosion occurred under a lamppost in front of the office at around 9:15 pm. A pedestrian was reportedly injured," said a resident.
The person who was injured by the explosion was 53-year old U Thein, who lives near the ward administration office. He was injured in the head. He was taken to the Paung Township Public Hospital by the social assistance and rescue team and he is in critical condition, he said.
Similarly, an explosion also occurred at Myaynigone village administration office next to Yangon-Mawlamyine road in Thathon Township, at around 7:00 pm on August 29, and the administration's office was destroyed by fire, according to residents.
"Unknown armed men came to the Myaynigone village administration office and detonated it. The explosion was loud. No one was hurt, but the office caught fire," said a resident.
The resident said that the members of Myanmar Fire Services came and put out the fire when the Myaynigone village administration office was caught fire and that the security forces fired at least ten rounds of gun fire while putting out the fire.
