Illegally imported controlled chemical products, other chemical items and related items were seized in Hsenwi and Muse townships, northern Shan State, according to the information released by the Narcotics Eradication Police Force on July 16.   

Acting on a tipoff, an anti-drug squad intercepted and searched a Toyota Hiace driven by Tin Aung Hla and his companion Hla Ngwe on July 11 at 9.30 am near Panson village, Hsenwi Township on the Mandalay-Muse road and found and seized illegally transported controlled chemical products of 2.5 tons of Sodium Acetate. The squad further said that at noon a Wish car with Aahphyin and Ashsan at the traffic point at ward 12 in Lashio was found to be transporting controlled chemical products and seized them.

Following the links obtained at 2pm the combined inspection team searched the brick factory warehouse in the industrial area in Kaunghmuton ward in Muse and arrested warehouse in- charge Han Min Aung and Ma Khine Su Nwe for illegal storage of controlled chemical products of 1.25 tons of Sodium Acetate and other chemical products of 2.4 tons of Potassium Sulfate,  6.75 tons of Sodium Carbonate, 380 kilograms of Sodium Chloride, 18 gas masks and 105 air filters. Further search was made at the warehouse in Swansaw ward, Muse at 5pm and arrested the warehouse watchman, Thura Kyaw, for illegal storage of controlled chemical products of 1.55 tons of Sodium Acetate and seized the goods.

 The total amount  of controlled chemical products seized were 5.3 tons of  Sodium Acetate, and other chemical products of 2.4 tons of Potassium Sulfate,  6.75 tons of Sodium Carbonate,  380 kilograms of Sodium Chloride,  18 gas masks, and 105 air filters. Action was to be taken in the perpetrators of the crime, and those in connection with the crime were being sought after as per information given by the anti-drug squad.
