More than 16,000 acres of unused land, granted permission to work palm oil plantation to wife of KBZ Bank owner U Aung Ko Win, were taken back according to Myanmar Gazette issued on July 5.
According to central committee on management of vacant, fallow and virgin lands, the lands are in Thein Khun village tract and Tamoat Chun village tract in Myeik District, Taninthayi Region. The Committee has previously allowed working on these lands. But it was found out that no work had carried out and so the Committee cancelled the use of land. The premium fee given by KBZ Bank owner U Aung Ko Win’s wife Daw Nan Than Htwe was seized as the country’s budget according to the statement of the Committee.
These lands were granted permission to carry out palm oil plantation in 2009 and 2014.
