A woman and her son were shot and killed by some unidentified gunmen at their house in Ward No.1, Pakokku town, on the afternoon of May 17, according to local sources.

The woman, aged 60, and her 40-year-old son were at their home at the corner of Thida Street and Bogyoke Street in Ward No.1, Pakokku, when the gunmen attacked them.

Daw Khin Nyunt Wai was found dead with her head hanging down on a bench. Her son Ko Myo Myint Oo was found dead lying on the ground.

Neighbourhood residents said they were found dead after hearing around six gunshots and an explosion.

Some Facebook pages reported that the gunmen searched the house for a police force member, and shot them when the policeman was not found there.
