Senior officer from Mytel shot dead in Ygn

A man was shot dead on the morning of November 4 in Tay Nu Yin Road in Mayangone Township.

The man living on Tay Nu Yin Road, 7 miles from Mayangone Township, was shot dead as he and his wife were leaving their house to walk at around 7:30 am on November 4, according to residents lived nearby.

The man, who was shot, died on the spot, and his wife was seriously injured.

According to the Facebook pages and some news agencies, the man was identified as Thein Aung, a retired major and chief financial officer of Mytel, a telecommunications company.

Some media asked the information team of the State Administration Council, "A news about an officer from Mytel was shot dead at his home on Tay Nu Yin Street was reported. Retired Major Thein Aung and his wife lived at No. (26/A), 7 miles, Mayangone Township, Yangon Region were shot this morning and he was reported dead”.

The information team replied, “A shooting was reported in Tay Nu Yin Road in Mayangone Township around 7:30 am and the security forces were sent to the scene to investigate. Thein Aung, 56 years old and his wife were shot by a gunman while they were walking back to their home along Tay Nu Yin Road and the gunman run away from the scene along Tay Nu Yin Road to Yangon-Pyay Road. Thein Aung died of gunshot wounds and his wife is being treated at Yangon General Hospital.”

Security forces were patrolling on Tay Nu Yin Road until the afternoon after the shooting and security was tight. The road is a one-way street with many people living on private lands.
