Than Win Tun, the brother in law of Myint Swe, who is chairman of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) for Belin Township, was shot dead on the afternoon of September 27, according to locals.

Than Win Tun was shot and killed by two unidentified gunmen arrived on a motorcycle near the two lions’ facade at the entrance of the road leading to Alu Lay Village, Bilin Township beside the Yangon-Mawlamyine highway road and he was sent to the Belin hospital. He died around 3 pm at the hospital, according to locals.

"I do not know how many gunshot wounds he had. He was taken to Bilin hospital and I heard he died at around 2 pm,” said a local.

Security forces arrived after the incident and launched an investigation, locals said.

Than Win Tun’s brother in law, Myint Swe, chairman of the USDP for Bilin Township, was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen on the way to his rambutan plantation on May 27.
