A home-made bomb exploded in front of the Road Transport Administration Department in Mandalay Region at about 9.30 am today and five people were wounded, local sources said.
The bomb went off exactly at a betel quid shop in front of the office located in Theikpan Street between 73rd Street and 78th Street in Maha Aungmyay Township.
“It was a home-made bomb explosion. It was left at the betel quid shop. Many were injured. They are being sent in ambulances to hospital. Security is being tightened there,” said a resident living near the office.
In the bomb blast, the betel quid shop owner, two brokers and two people coming to the office for motorcycle license renewals totalling five sustained injuries in various parts of their bodies such as chins, thighs and arms. They are now receiving medical treatment at hospital.
In May also, a bomb exploded near the same office wounding four people.
